How do I become a Volunteer?

The first step to becoming a volunteer is to contact the school where you wish to volunteer. OurÌýÌýapp shows the location of schools closest to you. Or you can access the School Directory.

Contact the school to receive a letter to take to your local police service. Request a police record check identifying any criminal convictions or charges and include a Pardoned Sexual Offences Database and Vulnerable Sector Search. You will need to provide the school with a completed police record check that is dated within the past year.

If your volunteer activity will involve supervising students, you will be asked to sign anÌýAnnual Release and Indemnification Agreement Form.

Accessibility Training for Volunteers

As per theÌý, all volunteers are required to receive information and training on accessible customer service, on the requirements of the Integrated Accessibility Stands Regulation under the AODA, and information about the Ontario Human Rights Code as it relates to disability.

Once your completed Police Records Check is submitted, you will receive a copy of theÌýAccessibility at the Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ District School BoardÌýbrochure to read to fulfill this requirement.
